Warning: this post contains a lot of baby talk, more specifically sentimental gushing about my baby, which some may find a bit off-putting (I might, if I hadn't written it.)
Anybody who didn't get the memo, Antonia Mireille was born on September 2, and she weighed 6lb 11 oz. I had planned a repeat C-section for Aug. 20 (Charlie was born cia C-section) but decided with my doctor's blessing to wait until I went into labor, which I finally did on Labor Day, as a matter of fact, four days after my due date. I'm really glad that I didn't go ahead with the C-section, it was better for Antonia to let her come when she was ready to come, but oy vey! I hope none of my other kids make me wait like that. When it comes right down to it, apparently I am not a very patient person, because I was pretty disgruntled by the time I started having real contractions, I never thought I would still be pregnant into the month of September and I was not happy about that. But the memory of that emotionally tumultuous time are already fading, and we've now been enjoying the little smidge (she's just a smidgen of a person!) for a little more than two weeks now. I had a really great nurse during labor and delivery who was telling me about how fun it is to come up with pet names for little girls; she was so right, it really does seem like there are far more possibilities for female terms of endearment than for boys. Some, for example, that I wouldn't use on Charlie: Peach Blossom, (any kind of blossom, actually) Muffin-puff, Gumdrop, Angel-kiss, Sugar-pie, Sweetness, Tasty-cake, Pear-berry (I think some of these might come from Bath and Body Works lotion flavors...) Anyway, my point is this: Antonia is tiny and adorable and we love her! Here's a little list I composed of things that I love about Antonia, and newborns in general; lots of the things on this list also applied to Charlie when he was a brand-new baby.
10 really adorable things about Antonia
1. teeny, tiny diapers
2. soft, squishy cheeks (good for nuzzling)
3. spontaneous smiling when she sleeps
4. when she sleeps with her arms thrown up next to her ears
5. really, when she sleeps at all
6. sometimes when she's about to fall asleep, loss of eye control that causes her eyes to dart around the room like a paranoid schizophrenic
7. little squeaks she makes that sound like a cat "mewling," as my dad would say
8. other adorable sounds that I can't begin to describe, but call me and I'll do my best imitation over the phone for you
9. miniscule fingernails that are so small they don't even look real
10. when she tries to lift her head up and it just bobbles around
And for my two brothers who are scattered about the planet, here are some pictures and videos of the little skeezix since you won't be able to meet her in person quite as soon as everybody else. I really tried to capture some of the more entertaining things she does, however she seems to take after Charlie and would quit doing anything interesting every time I got out the camera.
We tried to get a cute picture of Charlie holding Antonia, but he refused to even touch her when we put them on the couch together. Every time we scooted Antonia closer to him, he moved away; you can see how he's leaning away from her in the picture. Other than that, he really does seem to like her, though.

Look at that dark hair!!! She is so cute. Congratulations! I love your list of things you love...I should take it and post it on my blog. I LOVE my new baby too! I enjoyed your gushing. :)
Glad to see a new post. A new baby is a great reason. She's heaven sent!
I thought your comments were very tasteful and appropriate.
Hey Adri, She is so beautiful and I am just sappy enough that the baby talk and such was just wonderful. I also loved the video of all the roomates' kids - toddlers totally follow the crowd mentality and it makes for some great memories. Hope you're doing well - what a sweet little baby!
